Masculinity #2 – Don’t Drink in Front of Your Children

As a man, a religious man of faith, one goal of your life is to get married and to raise a children. There is not greater joy than that but also there is no greater responsibility than that.

Unfortunately I have seen already many times that many fathers have problem with alcohol. What it starts as a casual drinking from time to time, sometimes it leads to a serious drinking where person is drunk at least 3-4 times a week. When your wife and your children see you drunk, it is very disrespecting moment for you. If you get drunk on few occasions and you can control yourself to not do or say stupid things, there is no concern about that. ”Daddy got a little drunk.” Your children are laughing at you and making fun of you because your behavior is funny and weird for them. But if you are aggressive towards your children and wife when you are drunk, that is a huge problem. Your children will feel resentment towards you their entire life. Even if you apologize and admit your mistakes, that sometimes is not enough. Why? Because the fear and worry that they felt when you were drunk and acting aggressive, will never leave out of their bones.

From the Bible we can see how much Jesus cares about little children. Those are pure innocent beings. And if you scar any of those tiny creatures, it is a big sin. Very often children are psychologically and emotionally scared because their parents are not responsible and they have drinking problem. There is a constant argument between the parents and very often those parents are trying to manipulate the child to get on their side. They are just damaging the child.
